Beth and Harry requested wild flower Wedding Flowers for thier wedding at the London Rowing Club. They also wanted this style combined with a more contemporary, modern and colourful feel for their April wedding at the Thames Rowing Club in Putney, London. As a London wedding florist based in south west London, we adore creating floral arrangements for local weddings, and Putney is right around the corner from our floristry studio.
A Modern and Contemporary Wildflower Wedding Flower Style
The couple’s colour theme was Spring flowers in a wildflower and natural style, with the focus on yellows, oranges, and apricot shades, plus pops of whites and blues. Into the Wild Florist surpassed their brief by designing a selection of truly seasonal wedding floral arrangements using the couple’s very favourite blooms, including Poppies, Ranunculus, Daffodils and Snowdrops. Beth’s spring bridal bouquet included a mixture of yellows and apricots which looked stunning in contrast with her white silhouette.
On the Day London Rowing Club Wedding Flowers
With the sun warming the morning air and a buzz of rowing activity on the Thames, our team arrived early to decorate the rooms. To offer guests the perfect welcome and set the tone for the day, we covered the entrance and stairs with scented foliage – including wild Jasmine and Eucalyptus – with each step adorned with an array of delicate wild flower spring flowers. As the guests moved upstairs, they were met with a sunshine-dappled room filled with intoxicating floral colours and perfumes. For the ceremony, Beth had requested an outdoorsy floral experience, so we covered the window sills, mantlepieces and other surfaces with arrangements delicately styled to bring a wild meadow vibe to the venue.
Wild Flowers for the Ceremony Backdrop at the Thames Rowing Club
For the ceremony, we filled both mantlepieces with wild flower seasonal flowers in abundance, cascading across the paintings and down to the tables. The long table was used to continue the wildflower theme, using small delicate bud vases combined with low ceramic runners full of tall dancing poppies. This arrangement created a unique backdrop for Harry and Beth’s vows, as well as being picture perfect for photos too.
The Reception Flowers
All the flowers were repurposed for the wedding reception. The long wooden reception tables at the London Rowing Club were arranged in a U-shape and the mass of bud vases were placed centrally down the tables and filled with scented and naturally-styled sweet peas, ranunculus and narcissi. The London Rowing Club wedding flowers included cute floral centrepiece stem vases in a wildflower style and they popped with colour against the blue linen and tableware, and created a gorgeous contrast of heights and textures. During the wedding breakfast, Beth and Harry and their family positioned themselves in front of the floral decorated mantlepiece, ensuring that it continued to be featured in all of their wedding photos for the day.
Styling the Seasons at London Rowing Club
Together, Beth and Into the Wild spent time planning the styling and general feeling for the day – ensuring that the flowers were curated to match the invitation, the table linen complimented the flowers, and all the elements worked in harmony. We loved the natural, joyful and informal feel of the day – the choice of flowers was perfect for such a grand occasion, and truly matched Beth and Harry’s personalities too. As we understood from the outset, the colours and floral arrangements were one of the most important elements for their big day, and Beth will tell you just how pleased she was in her own words…
